Town’s<\/b> Commitment to Constitutional Rights<\/b><\/a> (Resolution 26-09; February 2026)<\/h3>\n
Taos County Resolution 2018-60<\/b><\/a> (A Resolution declaring that the wholesale removal of children from their immigrant parents in cases of misdemeanor cases is a violation of human rights, causes potential child trauma and physical harm, and supporting the efforts of state and federal officials to promote reunification of children with their families.)<\/div>\n
Taos Support for Dreamers<\/b><\/a> (Resolution 17-56, December 2017)<\/div>\n
Taos County Immigrant Friendly Resolution<\/b><\/a> (Resolution 2017-22, April 2017)<\/div>\n

Relevant Policies:<\/b><\/div>\n
Taos County Adult Detention Center (2014-14)<\/a><\/strong>:<\/div>\n
1. Update to policy prohibiting any staff from notifying ICE regarding any detainee at TCADC.<\/div>\n
2. Prohibits asking a detainee about their place of birth or country of origin upon admission.<\/div>\n
3. Prohibits telephone communication between a detainee and ICE unless court ordered.<\/div>\n
4. Prohibits detaining someone based solely on an immigration detainer; must be accompanied by<\/div>\n
an arrest warrant.<\/div>\n

Taos County Sheriff\u2019s Department (Chapter 18)<\/a>:<\/strong><\/div>\n
1. Updates the Department\u2019s policy prohibiting bias-based profiling.<\/div>\n
2. Prohibits Department personnel from initiating, prolonging, or expanding the scope or<\/div>\n
duration of an investigatory or enforcement activity in order to determine a person\u2019s immigration status.<\/div>\n
