(Republicans have put forward an opposing bill that prohibits this ban)<\/p>\n<p>3) SB 177 &#8220;U-Visa Certification&#8221; which requires law enforcement personnel to certify undocumented victims of crime (giving them U-Visa status).[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\"><\/div><div class=\"vcex-module vcex-divider vcex-divider-solid vcex-divider-center wpex-mx-auto wpex-block wpex-h-0 wpex-border-b wpex-border-solid wpex-border-main\"><\/div><div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\"><\/div>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>The NM Immigrant Law Center is promoting an &#8220;Immigrant Safety&#8221; bill<\/strong> (based on the Dignity not Detention laws in other states) to be carried by Christine Chandler &amp; Eleanor Chavez, but is not named in any registry of bills. We believe that it would prohibit undocumented immigrants from being detained in NM for-profit prisons.<\/p>\n<p>Now is the time to encourage our representatives to support &amp; vote for these bills.
